During the summer months the indoor HO model railroad shuts down as any free time we do have we like to spend it outside with the Zoo train or our backyard railroad. Now with Fall near it is time to clean up the HO areas for the cold days ahead.
Lot of old projects to finish and new ones to start! On May 1st we will be giving out out Commercial grade Static Grass Applicator for free!!! Tune in here and our Youtube channel on how to get them!
Making some of our own scenery material out of regular dirt and sawdust. THe sawdust will be used to make bark for our bur oak trees. The dirt was dried over the course of a few days then sifted into fine particles. It was then baked at 350 degrees for 20 minutes just to make sure anything living was killed off. Maked the location of matching streets and sidewalks from the overpass. Testing out a track painter pen. Put two coats of black paint on the poles of 34 hanging lights for the roundhouse.
Cut some smaller tube styrene and threaded them over the wires of the ceiling lights to act as poles. Then I glued the shades and poles together making sure they are as straight as possible. After they dry I will paint the rods black to match the size and color of the main power wire they will attach to.
Got about 10% of them together glued so far. Check out our Facebook group for even more details on this project! For those of you who like our layout videos, here is our newest one we just uploaded! https://youtu.be/ObnLhJjsSWk |
